Qualifications And Experience
Prior to my career as a counsellor, my employment was based in the airline industry. This has given me extensive experience in dealing with real life unpredictable scenarios with passengers. I have found that this has profoundly supported my therapeutic work and deepened my skills of empathy. This, and my personal life experience, has provided the perfect foundation for my counselling role.
I have a BA Honours degree and a Diploma in Person - Centred Counselling. I am committed to my own on-going personal and professional development. Courses attended include Neuroscience and Attachment Theory, Counselling for Depression and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their ethical code of practice and I am currently working towards accreditation.
My clinical practice experience includes working at a low cost therapy service providing counselling for adults with a wide range of presenting issues. This has has given me a solid platform in my counselling career and provided me with the opportunity to work with a diverse client base.
In addition to my private practice, I work voluntarily at a free counselling service for young people and see clients across the age span 13 - 25 years. I work with creative resources such as drawing images. This has encouraged these clients to express themselves when facing issues such as behavioural disorders, social anxiety, self harm and anger. I have also led and facilitated group work on topics such as self esteem and anxiety.
