I understand what it feels like when life becomes overwhelming. When I was a teenager, I had that feeling that something was bubbling up underneath it all and I used mindful breathing to successfully conquer my anxiety. Meditation is still a part of my day-to-day life, and I feel fortunate that I can teach these techniques to help others.
How I became a counsellor
I was on an entirely different career path when counselling found me. It was while I was working as ground crew at an airport that I had the opportunity to meet a rich mix of people and hear their life stories. More and more, I found myself spending time with people who needed to be heard, helping them deal with the highs and lows of life that had brought them on their travels. And I realised that counselling was my calling.
So I trained to become a person centred counsellor at the Metanoia Institute, which is renowned for its counselling and psychotherapy training.
My qualifications include:
- Diploma in Person Centred Counselling
- BA (Hons)Person Centred Counselling
- Registered Member of The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists
- CPD Training Neuroscience and Attachment Theory
- Counselling for Depression
- CBT with Heart.
- Mindfulness Diploma
In addition to my private practice, I work as a voluntary counsellor at a free counselling service for adolescents.
I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and an accredited member of the Professional Standards Authority.
I am lucky that I can bring my life experience and my training together in order to help others who are struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, trauma and many other issues.
