Savita Briggs Counsellor / Therapist in Bloomsbury, Holborn, Central London

Home. Savita

Hi my name is Savita . I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Therapist practising in the Holborn / Bloomsbury area of Central London. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy

Being human can be quite an arduous task. Life is full of unpredictability and challenges. At times, we do not feel rooted in ourselves. Whatever the factors these feelings of loss of joy can seep into our lives. We pretend that everything is okay. However the feeling of heaviness is still close by. We may feel disconnected from ourselves, others and the world and many of us find it hard to reach out for help.

I offer a gentle, safe, supportive and non-judgmental confidential space in which to help you explore whatever may be troubling you. We will work together at your own pace in discovering more about yourself, your life and your challenges to achieve a sense of balance in consonance with you.

I place a strong emphasis upon establishing a therapeutic relationship that is respectful and trustworthy, thus honouring you as a client.

As a Counsellor I believe that attending therapy is a sensitive decision and should not be rushed or taken lightly. Be kind to yourself as you embark on this journey.

I have undergone four years of extensive training at the Metanoia Institute renowned for its counselling and psychotherapy training. The approach and lens I bring to the counselling encounter is Person Centred. This is a relational approach, meaning the concept of trust is placed at the centre of the therapeutic relationship. I am more intent on understanding you as a client rather than evaluating, diagnosing or fixing.

I have experience as a therapist with working with adults and young people. I offer time limited and long term therapy and counselling.

In addition to talking therapy, I also use creative resources as a means to safely and comfortably facilitate self expression. Sometimes there are no words to describe an emotion. Expressing emotions through drawing images can enable you to connect with your deepest feelings, paving the way for healing to begin. Artistry skills are not required.

I am experienced in counselling clients who have struggled with :

Body Image
Childhood Trauma
Eating Disorders
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Self - Harm
Self Esteem
Work Related Difficulties.

This list is not exhaustive and often difficulties can be interlinked.

I have been active in a meditation practice for over thirty years. I am familiar with mindfulness techniques and have studied it at a Diploma level. I can incorporate these techniques in my therapeutic work if required. I have used mindfulness tools at my practice with young adults and have found it has profoundly reduced emotional regulation. Improvements include decreased reactivity, improved patience and self acceptance.

My counselling practice in Bloomsbury operates from 2pm until 9pm Wednesdays. I have flexibility outside these hours and other days are available so please contact me for availability.

The initial appointment consists of an assessment. Within an environment of privacy and trust, we can explore what has brought you to counselling and your expectations. This is an opportunity for you to ask me any questions about my approach and the way I work. And if you are happy with that and wish to return we can lay down a foundation for future therapeutic work to begin.

My private practice is situated in a quiet part of Central London. A beautiful spacious room which is located in Bloomsbury WC1A opposite the British Museum. Minutes away from Bloomsbury Square, close to Holborn, Tottenham Court Road, Euston, Kings Cross and Russell Square tube stations.

If you have any questions or would like to contact me to explore working together,
